I can't tell you how many customers and contacts tell me about their own band or recording project in the hopes that we will pick up their disc for distribution. Frankly the majority that flow through here are uneven - it's rare that we pick up a title. Drummer David Charlesworth has been whispering in my ear for some time about his band Dead Air Radio. Eventually the disc arrived at my doorstep and I gave it a spin. I was floored...

Dead Air Radio is a trio based out of Tennessee - not exactly the stronghold for progresive music. In addition to Charlesworth, the band consists of vocalist, guitarist and bassist Bill Givens, and lead guitarist Dennis Thompson. First off the musicianship is impeccable - these guys have eaten their Wheaties. I'm talking mega-tight. The band is obviously influenced by Rush and Dream Theater with some elements of Tool and modern rock trickling in as well. The clean production makes everything sound fresh without a retro sheen. Dead Air Radio is a band that has successfully created an album with plenty of crossover appeal for fans of progressive rock and metal. Take chops-from-hell, add well developed songwriting, great production and you have a winner every time. Highly recommended.
